Movies offer us an escape from reality and a chance to get lost in worlds that have something the real world is missing. Rom-coms (opens in new tab) give us a chance to indulge our inner romantics and enjoy the comfort that comes with knowing a happy ending is guaranteed. Horror movies (opens in new tab) and thrillers (opens in new tab) let us vicariously experience some danger without, you know, any actual danger. Science fiction (opens in new tab) and fantasy movies can transport us to entirely different worlds or even universes. And, of course, action movies let us imagine what life would be like with more excitement, adventure, and, usually, explosions.
Why it's worth watching: It's a modern take on the classic creature feature (and featuring two of movie history's most iconic creatures, at that). Plus, the always amazing and inspiring Millie Bobby Brown is back for this one (she was also in 2019's Godzilla: King of Monsters), and her presence is always a bonus.

Why it's worth watching: Zombie fans will love this Zack Snyder film, which is in Ocean's Eleven-style heist in a dystopian Las Vegas filled with intelligent, fast-moving zombies called alphas. Add in Tig Notaro being an overall badass and you have a fun, thrilling watch.
Why it's worth watching: If you have access to Paramount+, add this one to your watch list. The movie is about a man living with hallucinations who discovers those "hallucinations" are actually visions from his past lives.
Why it's worth watching: Fans have been calling for a Black Widow movie for literally years now. The character has always been a fan favorite in the MCU and it was honestly a crime that it took this long for us to see Scarlett Johansson lead her own Marvel movie. The film starred Bharat Bhushan as Baiju, with Meena Kumari playing his love interest Gauri. Meena made her acting debut in Bhatt's Leatherface (1939) as a six-year-old. Surendra portrayed Tansen, one of the Navratnas in Akbar's court. Kuldip Kaur played the role of the dacoit queen Roopmati.[7] The rest of the cast included Bipin Gupta, Manmohan Krishna, B. V. Vyas and Baby Tabassum.The film merges the legend of Baiju Bawra with the historic setting of Mughal Emperor Akbar's court in India.[8] Baiju (Bhushan) is the son of a musician who also grows up to be a musician. He comes to believe that Tansen, the famed musician at the court of Akbar, is responsible for his father's death. The movie then follows Baiju's attempt to avenge his father's death by challenging Tansen to a musical duel.
When Baiju is still a child, Tansen's sentry tries to stop Baiju's father from singing, and in the ensuing scuffle, his father dies. Before dying, he extracts a promise from his son to take revenge against Tansen. Baiju gets shelter from a village priest and while growing up, falls in love with Gauri, the daughter of a boatman. He continues his musical education on his own, but gets so enamoured by Gauri's love that he forgets the promise made to his father.
Later, a group of dacoits raid Baiju's village. With his song, Baiju persuades them against looting the village, but the female leader of the dacoits falls in love with him and asks him to follow them to their fort as a condition for their sparing the village. Baiju leaves with her, leaving the wailing Gauri behind. In the fort, the dacoit leader, who is actually a princess living in exile, tells Baiju how her father's serfdom had been usurped and she was seeking revenge because the village too previously belonged to her father. The word "revenge" brings all of Baiju's memories back; he leaves the fort greatly agitated, and the princess does not try to stop him.
In his delirious state, Baiju reaches Tansen's city, singing the whole way. The residents fear for his life and call him bawra (insane), hence the title of the movie. Baiju is caught and imprisoned, but the princess frees him. However, both of them are caught by Mughal soldiers when escaping, leaving a musical duel with Tansen as the only way to save his life.
The plot centered around music, so it was a necessity that the movie's soundtrack be outstanding. Renowned Bollywood music director Naushad and lyricist Shakeel Badayuni created memorable songs for the movie, with all but one being based on Hindustani classical melodies (ragas). Esteemed playback singers Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, and Shamshad Begum, and renowned classical vocalists Amir Khan and D. V. Paluskar lent their voices to the score.
Amir Khan was a consultant for the music. The result was a critically acclaimed movie soundtrack. Famous songs from the movie include "O Duniya Ke Rakhwale" (based on Raga Darbari), "Tu Ganga Ki Mauj" (based on Raga Bhairavi), "Mohe Bhool Gaye Sanwariya" (based on Raga Bhairav with traces of Raga Kalingda), "Man Tarpat Hari Darshan Ko Aaj" (based on Raga Malkauns), "Aaj Gaawat Man Mero" (Raga Desi), and Jhoole Mein Pawan Ki Aayi Bahar (based on Raga Pilu). Naushad won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director, his first and only win.

All You Need To Know: Zayed Khan plays India's best journalist (yep) who moves to Turkey and joins forces with Vivek Oberoi to take down the world's dangerous-est terrorist organisation. Oh, and while they take down said terrorists, they chug cans of Mountain Dew in the most hilariously shameless bit of product placement ever seen by man. (This is an actual scene in the movie.)
All You Need To Know: The captain of the Indian cricket team is suspended for his bad boy attitude. He then decides to exact revenge for this insult by planning to bomb the stadium during the next match... you know, like all dropped cricketers do. His brother, a retired CBI officer (played by an aging and hilariously unfit Dev Anand) is then pulled back into duty to stop him.
All You Need To Know: This heist movie is "inspired" by The Italian Job, which itself is not exactly a critical darling. However, despite being a beat-for-beat copy, Players somehow manages to be a hundred times worse. Among the many unbelievably ill-conceived characters is Sonam Kapoor playing the world's second-best hacker. Who's the best hacker, you ask? Neil Nitin Mukesh playing a guy named "Spyder", who constantly flirts with his AI home security system named "Baby". Ya.
All You Need To Know: Gunda owes a lot to engineering colleges, as it was on their LAN folders that people first discovered its cult potential. From those IITs, it has slowly snowballed into becoming everyone's near-unanimous pick for India's best worst movie. In many ways, the plot doesn't matter. You should just watch it to see what you've been missing out on. Because, man alive, this film is one for the ages.
